EMBARK — Initiating the Next Generation
Starting in the 2010-2011 school year, Brevard County’s students are becoming educated about the Port through a curriculum program called EMBARK (Energizing Minds — Brevard Area Resources for Kids), focusing on the Port’s business operations and environmental stewardship.
EMBARK begins in the classroom with hands-on activities and experiments and continues with a field visit to the Port, focusing on three sites — the Public Safety Command Center, Canaveral Lock and Jetty Park. This fieldwork segment is hosted by the Academy. Back in the classroom, students create photo stories of their visit.

Learning for a Better Life
In addition to being an important venue for public meetings on community-related issues, public seminars on topics of special interest, such as identity theft, are held at the Port’s Maritime Center. Throughout the year, the Academy will be developing and announcing new seminar topics.
